Virtua Tennis 3 First Native 1080p Xbox 360 Game

February 10, 2007

While the Xbox 360 can upconvert any of it’s games to 1080p, non have ever been natively rendered at that res. Virtua Tennis 3 is set to be the very first game on that system to be rendered natively in 1080p, similar to the PS3 version. Great job, Sumo Digital!

UPDATE: Smelly ‘ol EA have tried to take away Virtua Tennis’  1080p thunder by announcing that the upcoming NBA Street game on 360 will be the first 1080p game. VT3 is still going to be 60fps though while EA’s game is at 30fps.

Tilt Controls in Virtua Tennis 3 (PS3)

November 4, 2006

In addition to the traditional control method in Virtua Tennis, there’s also going to be motion sensing controls via the Sixaxis controller for the PS3.

Here’s a picture that shows how the controls work. Personally, looks a bit shoe-horned in and forced, possibley so it can be a bullet point on the back of the game’s case.

SEGA (pre) Tokyo Game Show Blow-Out: Console Side

Sega’s got a whole lot of stuff to be shown for the TGS.

First of all, we got Sega’s official TGS website, which has stuff like their (impressive) line-up.

Second, there’s a whole slew of pics and info at Gamewatch of their console showing. CLICK HERE

Here’s the info I could get from that page (there are pics that go with all of these too!):

  • New Wifi compatible Puyo Puyo game for the DS!
  • Seaman sequel is on the PS2, with a special controller with a built-in mic.
  • SEGA Golf Club for the PS3
  • Bleach game on the Wii
  • Mahjong game on the DS
  • (Some) New Virtua Tennis 3, Monkey Ball BB, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic and the Secret Ring screens
  • Furai no Siren DS (new Fushigi no Duengeon game) screens. It’s also wifi capable

Virtua Tennis 3 LGC 2006 Update

August 26, 2006

IGN have some interesting info regarding Virtua Tennis 3 at Liepzig. Here’s what they had to say:

Player’s clothes now flowed realistically with their movements and the clipping errors we witnessed a few months ago are nowhere to be found. Sega also placed the PS3 version directly next to the Xbox 360 build allowing us to see the slight differences between the two. This was made more interesting by the fact that the two games are being developed by separate companies with AM2 working on the PS3 title and Sumo Digital developing the 360 version. Plainly put, the PS3 looked a little better with sharper textures and incredibly detailed player models. It was almost eerie when we noticed the veins sticking out in our character’s forehead.

Sega also announced that there will be 10 brand new mini-games included in VT3 along with two returning challenges from series. And because these short diversions are one of the best reasons to play Virtua Tennis we were delighted to hear that developers are currently working on some type of multiplayer mini-game mode. We’re not sure exactly what this refers to but lets hope for some competitive split-screen action. We’ll have more tennis news as we draw closer to the launch of PS3.
